This post basically describes the 3 advantages of the relationship between Trichoderma Fungi and CANNABIS, seeing how it can benefit its natural and organic growth.
Soil fungi attack the roots of our plants, hindering their development or even killing them. With the idea of avoiding chemical treatments, fungicidal products (which attack fungi) based on trichoderma fungi have been developed.
We can say that TRICHODERMA FUNGI is a GOOD FUNGI, which attacks a BAD FUNGI.
MAIN ADVANTAGES OF TRICHODERMAS FUNGI
Since the beginning of agriculture, pests and fungi have been the main enemy of farmers. Traditionally, the fungi that attack crops reduce the development of crops and cause significant losses. In many cases, the action of these soilborne pathogens is so rapid that entire crops are lost before the farmer realizes what the problem is.
Faced with these attacks, traditional agriculture used (and continues to use in many cases) chemical fungicides to deal with fungi.
But chemical fungicides have numerous problems, chemical contamination of the soil, higher doses year after year, etc … This affects the quality of crops and the quality of plant foods for livestock and humans. Years ago, biological strategies were developed, totally respectful with the environment, by which we use some (good) fungi to get rid of other (bad) fungi.
Let’s say that some good fungi attack other bad fungi with various strategies (occupation of space, breaking the cell wall, etc …), subsequently disappearing, or even remaining inert in the soil, until the next growing cycle. With this, in addition to the fact that the strategy is non-invasive, it is achieved that less and less quantities of mushrooms are needed to maintain the safety of the crop.
We advise you to use a biological fungicide based on trichoderma fungi, formulated based on two selected strains of antagonistic fungi, for the prevention and control of soil diseases.
They are applied directly in the prevention and control of phytopathogenic fungi as a consequence of their way of feeding and colonization of the soil.
MAIN FUNGI THAT ATTACK CANNABIS
The main FUNGI that attack the CANNABIS plant and other plants in our garden are:
- Fitophtora or Phytophthora (“plant destroyer”) is a genus of the phylum Pseudofungi of the class Oomycetes. It causes great pests on plants.
- Fusarium is an extensive genus of filamentous fungi widely distributed in the soil and in association with the plant: Most harmless, but some have great impact.
- Pythium is a genus of parasitic Oomycetes. There are many species of Pythium: They are plant pathogens of economic importance in agriculture.
- Rhizoctonia or Rhizoctonia Solani is a plant pathogen, with a wide host range and worldwide distribution: It causes great problems in horticulture.
- Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is an ascomycete, phytopathogenic, necrotrophic fungus that causes a large number of diseases in crops, as well as in non-cultivated plants: It causes white poverty, in addition to a large number of diseases.
